DMEP - Disaster Management Emergency Preparedness Course March 9, 2020  
The Michigan Medicine Department of Surgery's Trauma Program is excited to offer DMEP, which is a 1-day course that is both didactic and interactive. It addresses core competencies as outlined by Disaster and Mass Casualty Management (DMEP(c)) of the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACSCOT). Major topics that will be addressed include planning, triage, incident command, injury patterns and pathophysiology, and special populations considerations. Interactive group discussions will be based on illustrative scenarios. The course requires a pre-/post-test, which will be reviewed on site.

Designated as the State Burn Coordinating Center for Michigan, the Trauma Burn Center is responsible for training first responders and medical personnel throughout the state to properly respond to catastrophic burn-related events and injuries. This training ensures that a highly-coordinated response is executed in Michigan and its surrounding region for burn mass casualty incidents.
