Giving

This computer work station in the Trauma Burn Center's family waiting room was acquired with funds donated by the Darling family, in memory of their daughter, Eleanor who received treatment at the TBC. The Darling family wanted other families to have access to the internet so that they may research medical terminology and conditions as well as communicate with concerned loved ones who cannot be there in person. Families have already begun to find the computer work station an invaluable resource and are grateful for its presence. Thank you to the Darling family for proving this lasting source of comfort to our patients' families.

Our heritage is rich. In 1959, the University of Michigan Burn Center was the state's first burn unit and one of the first of its kind in the country. Since then we've evolved in many ways. Today as a Trauma and Burn Center, we're a national leader in research, a pioneer of prevention programs, a premier teaching facility, and a Level-1 Trauma and Burn Verified Center by the American College of Surgeons.

We Advance Patient Care

We invest significant time and effort in research, education, prevention and the science of critical care. Why? Because every patient deserves the best possible treatment utilizing all our resources and knowledge, from the moment they reach our doors.

Our core mission includes:

  • Compassionate and exceptional patient care utilizing a multidisciplinary approach
  • Scientific and clinical research that develops innovative new technologies and enhances quality of life
  • Educating and training the physicians and nurses of tomorrow
